Kenya is one of the world's major flower-producing countries, exporting flowers to more than 60 destinations globally. The Kenya Flower Council highlights quality, diversity and vase life among the characteristics associated with Kenyan flowers. Grown in an Exceptional Climate, Kenya's flower-growing regions benefit from conditions that allow growers to produce flowers throughout much of the year. Our combination of sunshine, altitude and established horticultural expertise has helped Kenya develop a sophisticated floriculture industry capable of supplying international markets consistently. For flower lovers, that translates into access to an extraordinary variety of beautiful blooms. From classic roses and colorful chrysanthemums to lilies, carnations, alstroemeria and many more. Kenyan flowers aren't simply beautiful locally, they are produced for some of the world's most demanding flower markets. In 2024, flowers remained Kenya's leading horticultural export by value, generating approximately KSh 72.1 billion and accounting for 53% of horticultural export value, according to the Agriculture and Food Authority. Roses represented about 70% of flower export value that year. Agricultural and Food Authority Recent AFA data also shows Kenyan horticultural products reaching a wide range of international destinations, with the Netherlands, UK, UAE, Spain and Germany among important markets in the April–June 2025 period. More Than Beautiful Blooms Behind every flower is an entire industry of growers, breeders, farm teams, logistics specialists, florists and many others who help move a bloom from the farm to its final destination. Quality and sustainability standards are also increasingly important within the sector.
